House Higher Education Subcommittee

M E E T I N G N O T I C E

The Higher Education Subcommittee will meet Wednesday, May 7, 2008, 9:00 AM. The meeting will be held in Room 433 Blatt Building. The following bill(s) will be considered:

Regulation 3172: Commission on Higher Education - South Carolina Residency Program

Regulation 3173: Commission on Higher Education - South Carolina Hope Scholarship

Regulation 3185: Commission on Higher Education - South Carolina Need-based Grants Program

Regulation 3196: Commission on Higher Education - SC National Guard College Assistance Program

S. 1207: MATTHEWS and others - Election of Board members to the South Carolina State University Board of Trustees, to provide that nine members of the Board are elected by the General Assembly, one from each Congressional district and three from South Carolina State University at large, and to provide that the South Carolina State University Alumni Association elects three members of the Board of Trustees.

S. 991: MCCONNELL- To provide for the disposition of duplicative archival material by the SC Commission of Archives & History; and to repeal Section 59-103-200, relating to disposition of duplicative archival material, that was erroneously codified under the Commission of Higher Education instead of the Commission of Archives and History.

S. 1233: PEELER - Domicile for tuition and fee purposes, to provide that independent persons who reside in and have been domiciled in South Carolina for fewer than 12 months, and their dependents, may be eligible for in-state tuition and fees as long as the independent person is employed on a full-time basis within an adjoining county in North Carolina or Georgia.
