AvantGo requires that users register on their website prior to setting-up channels. Channels enable handheld users to receive updated information from websites when their devices are synchronized.

Make sure that handheld synchronization has been performed before this installation.

• Be sure cradle or cable for handheld device is connected.

• Create a folder on your C:\ drive for the AvantGo software.

• Go to www.AvantGo.com. Click the Get It Now button.

• At Step 2, click on the link: Click here to skip to registration.

• Under Create Your UserName and Password:
  Select a Username and password. Record it -- you will need it later.

• Under Customize Your Account -- Complete all information fields. Click the Continue button.

• Under What are Your Interests, Select a minimum of 4.

• Complete the Tell Us About Yourself and Tell Us About Your Company sections. Click on the Continue button.

• Click in the checkbox to acknowledge that your have read the Terms of Service and Privacy Statement. Click the I Accept button.

• In the Choose Your Device section, select the option that corresponds with your handheld device. Click Continue button.

• Click on the Click here to DownLoad link. Save the file to your computer.

• Navigate to the folder on your C:\ drive that you created for AvantGo. Double-click the file to activate.

• At the AvantGo Install Wizard, click the Next button to begin installation.

• Click OK at the message:AvantGo Client will be installed to your Palm OS handheld device the next time you synchronize.

• You will be automatically returned to AvantGo Site.

• Click the Configure Device button.

• After device is configured, click Continue button to continue installation. Minimize the AvantGo website.

• Sync your handheld device.

• On the Application Launcher, click the AvantGo Icon Ads from AvantGo should be visible.

• Return to the AvantGo website.

• In the upper right corner click on Manage Account.

• Click on My Account tab -- the account management tasks will be displayed.

• Choose Create a Custom Channel.

• Set up the channel for SCStatehouse.Net using the settings below:
  • For Channel Title:
    • Title: SCStateHouse
    • Location: http://www.scstatehouse.net/AVANTGO/INDEX.HTM
  • For Channel Size:
    • Maximum Channel Size:100K
    • Link Depth 4
    • Include Images Yes
    • Follow Off-Site Links No
  • For Channel Refresh Select:
    Select on every sync and Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
  • Click Save Channel Button. You will receive a message that says, Custom channel created successfully.

• Close AvantGo website.

• Re-sync your handheld device to receive data from the S.C. StateHouse website.

• Click on AvantGo on handheld Application Launcher to see updated S.C. State House information.

• Remove any unwanted ads from AvantGo on handheld if desired.
