Jacob John Faust (1772-1827)

John Jacob Faust (1772-1827) lived in the Richland District of South Carolina. Beginning in 1801 he and his brother were the publishers of the Columbia newspaper, The South Carolina State Gazette and Columbian Advertiser. They were the official printers for the state, and printed all legislative journals and reports. He was elected to the House in 1812 and served in the 20th General Assembly. John Faust died on December 18, 1827 after suffering from a "extensive affection of the liver." He is buried in the Trinity Churchyard.
